Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the terms, conditions, insurance specifics, applicable charges, and your obligations related to the rental. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To hire a vehicle from Car Hire in Walkden, drivers must be a minimum of 21 years old, with age limits varying depending on the vehicle type. A valid full driving licence is required, along with proof of identity and current address. Additionally, valid payment details and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Terms
- Reservations can be made via our website, by telephone, or directly at our Walkden office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The remaining balance and security deposit are usually payable upon vehicle collection. All charges are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- Upon collecting your vehicle, it is important to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage right away. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed at this time. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when it was collected, accounting for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may incur additional costs. Please return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns may result in extra fees, so please inform us immediately if you expect to return the vehicle late. You are responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during your rental, along with a handling fee.
Insurance and Liability Terms
- All car rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts will be outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damages or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Your Vehicle
- The vehicle may not be used for any illegal activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in any dangerous maneuvers. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly prohibited. Sub-leasing the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is forbidden. The vehicle must be used for its intended purpose, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Operating the vehicle outside the agreed geographical area requires prior authorization.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Walkden is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liabilities arising from negligence that results in death or personal injury, or from fraudulent activities.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be resolved within the jurisdiction of English and Welsh courts.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
